Landers-Lewis, MVC Leverage Expertise to Grow

By Steven R. Lewis, President and Principal, Landers-Lewis
BOARDMAN, OHIO — Landers-Lewis Insurance Agency & Consulting Services and Midwest Ventures & Consulting, both based in Boardman, are sister companies that operate in tandem to bring business solutions to small and mid-sized companies.

This includes commercial and personal insurance, business consultation services, investor group formations and commercial property management services.

Landers-Lewis celebrated its sixth anniversary in August and achieved double-digit organic growth, yet again proving that the human touch outweighs clever advertising schemes associated with selling insurance products over the internet.

We believe that protecting your balance sheet, whether it’s your business or household, is too important to trust to a faceless insurance company. To that end, we have doubled down on securing new insurance markets and programs to combat the ever-growing threat of cyber crime.

We’ve committed significant resources to become experts at analyzing these risks and determining the right program to optimally match customers’ risk profiles at a price that makes sense.

Our agency is recognized for its expertise in providing insurance programs to school districts and municipalities. During 2019, we experienced notable growth in this segment and expect more growth throughout 2020.

Instrumental to achieving our goals is seeking strategic carrier partners to broaden our competitive mix. Consequently, we secured an appointment from National General Insurance to broaden our personal-lines menu.

At Midwest Ventures & Consulting, we bring investors together who share real estate investment goals and possess similar risk tolerance levels.

Our 2018 purchase of the Huntington Building on Courthouse Square in downtown Warren has exceeded our projections with respect to increasing occupancy. This improvement is directly linked to the positive momentum of the downtown as well as aggressive marketing efforts. Our goal is to have the building fully occupied by the end of 2020.

In addition, apartment renovations along with a new clubhouse and office were recently completed at Timber Ridge Apartments in Liberty Township. These improvements, along with more hands-on management, have resulted in a waiting list of future residents.

More recently, MVC purchased 25 acres adjacent to Guilford Lake in Columbiana County. Plans are being formulated to develop that land with details to be announced in 2020.
