Leadership Mahoning Valley Relaunches
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ending a hiatus that began during the pandemic, the Leadership Mahoning Valley program was relaunched in fall 2023 with a class of 43, reports Joann Stock, executive director.
The immersive, interactive program identifies and develops leaders with diverse backgrounds or experiences. Through speakers, tours, hands-on activities and site visits, participants gain knowledge of programs, services, businesses and institutions in the Valley.
Since its inception, over 1,200 business and community leaders have graduated from the Leadership Mahoning Valley program and have assumed leadership roles.
The Youth Leadership Mahoning Valley program for high school students will be restarted this summer. It had also been on hiatus since 2020 because of the pandemic.
This year, plans are underway to expand the program, according to Stock.
Leadership Mahoning Valley will be expanded into a continuum of programming that will include programs for young professionals, and new businesses and employees.
There will also be programs to help businesses recruit young professionals and a leadership speaker series for all facets of the continuum, Stock says.
