Arms Museum Hosts ‘History of Santa’ Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is hosting George Johnson at noon this Saturday for a lecture on the History of Santa Claus.

Johnson has been collecting antique Christmas decorations for over 30 years, and is a member of the Golden Glow of Christmas Past, a club for enthusiasts of Christmas memorabilia. He is an elementary and middle school teacher who specializes in working with talented and gifted students in Southern Local Schools near Logan.

Johnson will speak in the Carriage House behind The Arms Family Museum. The lecture is included with regular museum admission.

The lecture is part of Memories of Christmas Past at The Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave. The exhibit is now open through Jan. 7.

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for children (ages three to 18). Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and noon to 7 p.m. on Thursdays.
