Mahoning County Tourism Bureau Wins 5 State Awards

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning County Convention & Visitors Bureau took home five awards – including four first-place prizes – at the Ohio Travel Association’s annual convention, held Sept. 25-27 at Cedar Point.

At the Ohio Conference on Travel, the agency won Ruby Awards for best marketing campaign for the Wines of the Valley Wine Trail promotion, best e-newsletter for the Youngstown Live campaign, best blog for the “Meet the Roasters” series as part of the Joe in the YO coffee trail, and best brochure for the series highlighting Mahoning County’s outdoor recreation, golf, dining and self-guided tour opportunities.

“We continue to work to raise awareness of all of the wonderful things to do and see in Mahoning County, and are constantly promoting our area in the most positive way possible,” said the bureau’s executive director, Linda Macala, in a release. “Visitor information requests from all over the U.S. and Canada continue to increase, so it’s very rewarding to have our work and our efforts recognized by our peers.”

The Mahoning County Convention & Visitors Bureau also received the second-place Citation of Excellence in the visitor guide category for the 2018 Youngstown/Mahoning County Travel Guide.

This year’s Ruby Awards featured 203 entries across three budget levels and 17 categories. A nine-member panel of professional marketers graded entries.
