In March 1995, the Division I-AA National Football Champions YSU Penguins and head football coach Jim Tressel were invited to the White House to meet with then-president Bill Clinton. As that political year dawned, Clinton had a handful on his plate already. Nine months earlier, Paula Jones filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Clinton, the U.S. Congress was now dominated by Republicans for the first time in 40 years, while the U.S. Senate started to consider forming a committee to investigate the Whitewater matter.
