MCCTC Instructor Receives Exemplary Award
CANFIELD, Ohio — Walter Baber, engineering instructor at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, received the Exemplary Award at a VEX Robotics competition.
The Kalahari Classic was hosted at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky last week. Each year, the Exemplary Award is given to a coach who has built a built a withstanding and successful program, and has helped promote VEX Robotics, according to a release.
“I attribute the award to the endless support I get from the administration at the school and for them allowing me to run my ideas, no matter how far-fetched.” Baber said.
The MCCTC league has added more than 20 robotics teams to the area in the past two years, making them one of the fastest growing areas in Ohio, according to the release.
According to the Kalahari Classic website, some 1,000 STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) students participated in the multistate competition to qualify for VEX Worlds, the world’s largest international youth robotics event.
