MCCTC Opens Enrollment for 2021-2022 School Year

CANFIELD, Ohio — Incoming 11th grade students can now apply to the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center for the 2021-2022 school year.

MCCTC offers 22 programs at its 7300 N. Palmyra Road location. Many of the programs are designed for students looking to enter the workforce right out of high school, while others prepare students for college.

Last year, MCCTC added new programs in Animal Science, Allied Health and Pre-Nursing. Some 400 high school juniors applied last school year, and it projects 400 to 450 will apply this year, said Jessica Cene, marketing and job placement coordinator.

“We are actually seeing more interest this year,” Cene said.

In 2019, 99% of MCCTC graduates earned 12 or more industry credentials. On average, 95% of MCCTC graduates either enroll in college, enlist in the military or find employment in their chosen career field.

Some of the school’s programs are “100% job placement guaranteed,” including welding, aviation and some of the automotive programs. MCCTC works closely with organizations like the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition and the Youngstown/Warren Regional chamber to identify available jobs in the Mahoning Valley.

In 2019, the schools boasted a 96% job placement rate.

During each enrollment period, MCCTC accepts 24 students for each program, except for pre-nursing, which accepts 50. The school accepts applications until all programs are full, many of which are full by the end of March, beginning of April. MCCTC usually has waiting lists by March.
