MCESC Virtual Career Discussion Features Forensic Scientist

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The next Virtual Career Exploration event hosted by the Mahoning County Educational Service Center spotlights careers in science.

Middle and high school students will hear from Melissa O’Connor, forensic scientist with the Philadelphia Police Department. O’Connor will discuss the educational background that led to many career opportunities in the field of science.

The event is scheduled for noon to 12:30 p.m. on March 25, and will be conducted via Zoom. Classrooms interested in participating can click the Zoom link here.

During the virtual discussion, O’Connor will explain what a forensic scientist does and will discuss how DNA analysis is used in criminal investigations.

Students will also have an opportunity to engage with O’Connor with a live Q&A discussion.
