Mercy Health Selling 3 Senior-Care Sites to Aventura Health Group

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mercy Health is in the process of selling three of its assisted-living and skilled-nursing centers to New Jersey-based company.

In a statement Friday morning, a Mercy Health-Youngstown spokesman said the organization is selling Assumption Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation and Marian Assisted Living Center in North Lima and Humility House Senior Living in Austintown to Aventura Health Group. The two sides are still working through due diligence and the transition is expected to take place around the end of the year. Terms were not disclosed.

“It has been our privilege to care for thousands of patients and residents. Health care continues to be dynamic, and we are continuously talking with health care providers, both inside and outside our current footprint, to share best practices and better understand how we can provide the highest level of care, including post-acute services,” Mercy said in a statement.

“Aventura has more than 60 years of experience in skilled nursing and assisted living care, and a long history of providing compassionate care to residents and patients within their facilities,” the statement continued. “Their focus is on continued investment in our facilities to ensure care is provided in a way that honors the rich foundations established by Mercy Health and we are confident that they are the right partner to care for patients and residents well into the future.”

Staff, residents and families at the three centers have been informed of the change, the Mercy Health spokesman added.

According to its website, Aventura currently operates three sites, all in eastern Pennsylvania. In the Philadelphia suburbs, it owns Aventura at Prospect and Aventura at Pembrooke, along with Aventura at Creekside in Carbondale. The company’s headquarters is in Lakewood, N.J.
