Mercy Health to Open New Canfield Surgery Center in July

CANFIELD, Ohio – Mercy Health-Youngstown will open a new surgery center in Canfield, expanding options for patients in need of outpatient procedures.

“This new center complements the already high-quality care provided at St. Elizabeth Boardman and Youngstown Hospitals,” said Dr. John Luellen, market president of Mercy Health-Youngstown, in a statement. “This new ambulatory center allows us to perform important surgical procedures in an environment specifically designed for patients that will be home to recover the same day, allowing us to provide more complex procedures at our hospitals.”

The surgery center, at 4147 Westford Drive, offers orthopedic, podiatric and plastic surgeries, among others. The new site, which is in the space once housing the Surgery Center of Canfield, is expected to open in July.

“As physicians, our focus remains on providing the highest level of quality and compassionate care that is best for our patients, including where we provide care and perform procedures,” said Dr. Thomas Boniface, orthopedic surgeon and board president at the Canfield Surgery Center.  “As the Valley’s only Level 1 trauma center, our operating rooms, staff and physicians are highly skilled in caring for those most critically injured. With this new site, we can move more routine or simple procedures to a place that was created for that purpose.”
