Military Order of The Purple Heart Honors Covelli

WARREN, Ohio —Sam Covelli, CEO of Covelli Enterprises, Panera Bread’s largest franchisee, recently was honored by the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 606 for his support of the organization’s Combat Wounded Veterans.

Purple Heart representatives presenting Covelli with the award included Leo Connelly Jr., senior vice commander of the Department of Ohio Military Order of the Purple Heart and senior vice commander of Local Chapter 606, and Herman Breuer, director of Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission.

Covelli Enterprises has supported the local Military Order of the Purple Heart by raising funds at the registers of the company’s nine Panera Bread locations in Mahoning Valley. Support is also given in the form of food donations for the annual Thanksgiving food drive that serves veterans in need. Covelli Enterprises is also the annual presenting sponsor of the Youngstown Phantoms Hockey Military Appreciation Night, which benefits the Purple Heart.

“Supporting veterans has always been near and dear to my heart since my father and our founder, Albert M. Covelli, was a World War II veteran,” said Covelli. “We are thankful to partner with Military Order of the Purple Heart as they do so much good to assist combat veterans in need, right here in our local communities.”

“While serving in the military we lived by the creed to leave no one behind. With the support of Mr. Covelli and Covelli Enterprises, we are able to continue that mission right here in our community. By way of his support, we couldn’t be more thankful,” said Breuer.
