ODOT Seeks Input on Austintown Bridge Removal Project
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation District 4 is seeking public input on the permanent removal of the Lanterman Road bridge over Interstate 680 in Austintown Township.
The proposed project is in the environmental engineering phase, which includes environmental studies and preliminary plan development. Right-of-way acquisition is scheduled to begin this summer. The bridge will be permanently closed with no through traffic starting in spring 2026. The bridge removal and cul-de-sac construction is scheduled to take place from spring to fall 2026, and Lanterman Road repaving is scheduled for summer.
ODOT is asking the public to participate in a virtual open house by visiting the project website, viewing a prerecorded presentation about the project, reviewing the available project information and submitting questions or comments.
The virtual open house will begin June 12 and last through July 12. Project information and materials – including presentation, flyer and comment form – can be requested by contacting Sean Carpenter, district environmental specialist, at 330 786 2274 or [email protected] or by visiting the project website.
Comments about the project can be submitted via email, the project website or by contacting Carpenter. Comments received by July 12 will be compiled, replied to and posted on the project website.
