Ohio Initial Unemployment Claims Drop Slightly
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 13,077 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was down by six claims from the previous week’s filing, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
State residents also filed 42,779 continued traditional unemployment claims for the week of Dec. 4-10, which was 3,453 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, some 2,332 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in October was 4.2%. The national unemployment rate in October was 3.7%.
