Ohio Job Openings up by More than 19,000
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Postings at OhioMeansJobs.com increased by 19,240 from Jan. 14 to Feb. 13 compared to the previous reporting period.
Employers posted 334,959 job openings in the most recent reporting period, which is up from the 315,719 openings posted over the previous month. Compared to the same time period a year ago, this reflects an increase of 106,593 ads.
Postings for registered nurses led the field with 17,750, which is up from 17,047 in the last reporting period. Rounding out the top five were heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers (15,509), first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (11,832), software developers, applications (8,795) and retail salespersons (8,493).
Of the total posted jobs, 26.5% list a middle income salary range of $30,000 to $49,000. Upper middle income jobs ($50,000 to $79,000) comprise 27.4% of posted jobs. Entry level jobs (less than $30,000) make up 14.6% of postings, high-income jobs ($80,000 to $99,000) 10.7% and six-figure jobs 20.8%.
Most jobs posted (40.5%) require a high school diploma or GED, compared to 40.1% that require a bachelor’s degree, 14.3% require an associate degree, 2.5% a master’s degree and 2.6% a doctoral degree.

The 18-county northeastern Ohio region, which includes Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, saw 113,092 jobs posted online from Jan. 14, 2022, through Feb. 13, which is up 5,483 ads from the previous reporting period. Compared to the same period a year ago, this is an increase of 36,337 ads.
In northeastern Ohio, job postings for registered nurses increased to 6,796, which is up from 6,499 from the prior reporting period. A March 25 search at OhioMeansJobs.com for registered nurse positions within a 20-mile radius of Youngstown yielded 252 results.
Rounding out the top five occupations in northeastern Ohio were heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers (5,310), first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (4,745), retail salespersons (3,434) and customer service representatives (2,352).
