Ohio Jobless Claims Tick Up
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New jobless claims filed by Ohioans during the week ended September 17 rose compared to the previous week. At the same time, continued unemployment claims ticked up, according to data released this morning from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Ohioans filed 6,419 new traditional unemployment claims last week, an increase of 465 claims filed the previous week.
Continued jobless claims stood at 28,106 for the week, an increase of 326 claims, ODJFS said.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in August was 4% compared to the national unemployment rate of 3.7%.
Ohio’s labor force participation rate in August was 61.8%, while the national labor force participation rate for the month stood at 62.4%.
