Ohio Jobless Claims Tick Upward
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New jobless claims filed by Ohioans during the week ended June 4 increased compared to the previous week as did continued unemployment claims, according to data released Friday from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Ohioans filed 9,484 new traditional unemployment claims last week, an increase of 766 claims filed the previous week.
Continued jobless claims stood at 29,053 for the week ended June 4, an increase of 350 claims, ODJFS said.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in April was 4% versus the national unemployment rate of 3.6%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in March was 61.8%, while the national labor force participation rate for the month stood at 62.2%.
