Ohio Sports & Spine Sees Growth at 3 Offices
HOWLAND, Ohio – Ohio Sports & Spine Institute, a regional medical practice and rehabilitation center, has expanded its services in Trumbull County with the opening of its new Howland office at 8720 E. Market St., Suite 10.
The 3,000-square-foot office houses physical medicine, rehabilitation, chiropractic, physical therapy, sports medicine, nerve testing and acupuncture services, as well as medical marijuana evaluations.
Ohio Sports & Spine now has a presence in three counties, treating patients at its practices in Howland, Boardman and East Liverpool.
The practice’s four physicians, four licensed physical therapists, 11 physical therapist assistants, massage
therapist and speech pathologist provide treatment options for injuries related to work, sports injuries, automobile accidents, migraines, nerve damage, strokes and neuromuscular diseases.
The practice added six employees in 2019, bringing the total to 47 across its three offices.
Before expanding into the new Howland office, the group practiced out of a space at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland.
“The larger space in our new location enables us to provide physical therapy services we could not offer at Hillside,” says Dr. John Dunne.
“This is important to treating workers’ compensation injuries for Trumbull County patients,” he continues. “Now, we can deliver comprehensive care in one facility to expedite the recovery process and get people back on the job quicker.”
Ohio Sports & Spine began offering acupuncture treatment at its new office in Howland to support growing demand for that therapy. The procedure had previously been offered at its Boardman and East Liverpool practices.
“Acupuncture services are becoming popular for treating many different conditions,” says licensed acupuncturist and chiropractor Dr. Andrew Hospodar.
“We’re pleased that the U.S. Veterans Administration and Medicaid now cover acupuncture treatment in many situations,” he adds.
“We have seen steady growth since the inception of our practice in 1990,” reports Dr. Joseph DiDomenico. “We attribute this success to our investment in advanced training for our staff. Our emphasis is on providing individual, personalized care for each patient who walks through our door.”
The multispecialty group sees patients ranging from youth athletes to geriatric adults as well as post-surgical patients and people dealing with chronic pain and other medical conditions.
“Our comprehensive treatment plans enable our patients to receive the unique care they need from one location,” says Dr. Joseph Cerimele.
“Our expansion in recent years reflects the strides we’ve taken to provide the most effective on-site rehabilitation services for our patients across all three counties.”
The physicians and staff are dedicated to supporting many local athletic teams, serving as team physicians for several high schools.
Ohio Sports & Spine plans to host workshops and functional movement assessments for high school sports teams this year.
“We’re really focusing on continuing to build relationships with other medical providers, local gyms, coaches and others in the health field to reach those who could benefit from our comprehensive treatment plans,” says Hospodar.
“Our ultimate goal is to provide the best patient-focused care possible. We’re here as a reliable resource to local physicians, surgeons, urgent care centers and others who are trying to get their patients back to living their normal lifestyles.”
