Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Continue to Rise
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 14,040 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 253 more than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 60,722 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of Jan. 1-7, which was 7,225 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 2,527 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In November, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.2%. The national unemployment rate was 3.7%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in November was 61.3%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.1%.
