Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Decrease
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 5,691 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 519 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 48,157 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of March 31-April 6, which was 1,042 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 1,062 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In February, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.7%. The national unemployment rate was 3.9%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in February was 61.8%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.5%.
