Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Drop for 3rd Straight Week
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 18,501 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 2,942 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
It was the third consecutive week that filings have declined.
State residents also filed 43,637 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of July 23-29, which was 2,285 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 3,775 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In June, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.4%. The national unemployment rate was 3.6%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in June was 62.1%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.6%.
