Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Drop for Fourth Straight Week
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 5,803 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 3,242 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
It was the fourth straight week that filings have declined.
State residents also filed 45,276 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of April 16-22, which was 3,609 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 1,546 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In March, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.8%. The national unemployment rate was 3.5%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in March was 61.5%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.6%.
