Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Drop for Third Straight Week
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 9,045 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 1,079 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
It was the third straight week that filings have declined.
State residents also filed 48,885 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of April 9-15, which was 2,889 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 2,423 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In February, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.9%. The national unemployment rate was 3.6%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in February was 61.4%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.5%.
