Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Rise
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ohioans filed 8,293 initial traditional unemployment claims last week the week of May 15 to 21, up 75 from the week before, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday. Approximately 2,271 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
Ohioans filed 30,253 continued traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 25 more than the previous week.
The total number of traditional claims filed from May 15 to 21 was 38,546.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in April was 4%. The national unemployment rate in April was 3.6%.
Ohio’s labor force participation rate in April was 61.8%. The national labor force participation rate in April was 62.2%.
