Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Rise
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohioans filed 11,295 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was up more than 1,811 from the previous week’s filings, the Ohio Departmentt of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
State residents also filed 31,677 continued traditional unemployment claims for the week of June 5 to 11, which was 2,624 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, some 3,444 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
The total number of traditional claims filed last week, was 42,972.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in April was 4%. The national unemployment rate in April was 3.6%.
