Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Rise Slightly
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 8,193 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 297 more than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 38,957 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of May 14-20, which was 1,011 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 2,064 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In April, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.7%. The national unemployment rate was 3.4%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in March was 61.8%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.6%.
