OhioMeansJobs Posts Fewer Job Listings; Still Top 300,000
COLUMBUS, Ohio — OhioMeansJobs.com posted 307,336 job openings from Feb. 14 to March 13 – down 27,623 from the previous reporting period, but still up by more than 46,000 from the same period a year ago.
Registered nurses leads postings with 14,871. Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers had the second most job ads with 13,887, with first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (11,552), software developers, applications (8,462) and retail salespersons (8,088) rounding out the top five.
Of the total posted jobs, 27.7% list an upper middle income salary range of $50,000 to $79,000. Middle income jobs ($30,000 to $49,000) comprise 27% of posted jobs. Entry level jobs (less than $30,000) make up 15% of postings, high-income jobs ($80,000 to $99,000) 10.2% and six-figure jobs 20.1%.
Most jobs posted (40.7%) require a high school diploma or GED, compared to 40.6% that require a bachelor’s degree, 13.7% require an associate degree, 2.5% a master’s degree and 2.8% a doctoral degree.

The 18-county northeastern Ohio region, which includes Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, saw 102,239 jobs posted online from Feb. 14, through March 13, which is down 10,853 ads from the previous reporting period, but up 14,704 from the same period last year.
In northeastern Ohio, job postings for registered nurses led with 5,635. An April 29 search at OhioMeansJobs. for registered nurse positions within a 20-mile radius of Youngstown yielded 497 results.
Rounding out the top five occupations in northeastern Ohio were first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (4,695), heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers (4,605), retail salespersons (3,316) and computer occupations, all other (2,109).
