Ohio’s TechCred Funded 597 Employers in September
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lt. Gov. Jon Husted announced Monday that 597 employers were approved for funding through Ohio’s TechCred program in September.
The funding will provide the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 7,421 tech-focused credentials, according to a news release from the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation.
“With TechCred everybody wins – employers get a more skilled workforce and their employees earn skills that give them more job security,” said Husted, who serves as director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation. “If you are an Ohio employer looking to upskill your employees, I encourage you to join the thousands of other companies across the state who use this great program.”
In the most recent round, artificial intelligence credentials were the most requested, with 1,300 awarded. Sixty-two schools across the state received funding to help their teachers gain new AI skills.
“The DeWine-Husted administration is committed to ensuring the next generation of Ohio’s workforce has the skills they need to thrive in their careers,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “TechCred empowers employers to upskill employees, while also helping Ohioans achieve their own goals. It is another example of how we are investing in our state’s future.”
The next application period for Ohio employers will open Jan. 2 and will close at 3 p.m. Jan. 31. Employers can apply HERE.
