Chuck’s Greenhouses Grows Support for Rescue Mission
NORTH JACKSON, Ohio – Chuck’s Greenhouses will host its annual Opening Day Sale April 26, with 15% of total sales donated to Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. On-site cash donations up to $10,000 will also be matched by the greenhouse.
Last year’s Opening Day Sale raised more than $18,000 for the mission. This year’s goal is $25,000. As part of the sale, Chuck’s Greenhouses, 2501 S. Salem-Warren Road, will offer 15% off all live plants all day.
“Last year, it was just amazing to see. There were so many people visiting around the Rescue Mission table, making donations and just wanting to talk,” said Rescue Mission ambassador Crystal Eckman in a release. “Chuck and Jen [owners of Chuck’s Greenhouses] make you feel like family. This year, I’m looking forward to meeting and interacting with people from the community who visit during the day.”
The money donated will go toward the Move Our Mission campaign to construct a new building for the Rescue Mission. The organization purchased 17.5 acres behind the former South High School in, but has recently started looking at a site closer to its current building, 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Among the potential sites is a property recently acquired by the Mahoning County Land Bank bordered by Fleming Street, Worthington Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
