Opera Western Reserve to Stage ‘Carmen’ in November

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Tickets are on sale for Opera Western Reserve’s production of “Carmen.”

The opera company will stage its production of George Bizet’s classic work Nov. 11 at Stambaugh Auditorium.

“Carmen is one of the most popular and accessible operas for the first time opera-goer. Both the story and the music are exciting and people would be surprised how much of the music is already familiar to them. If you have any curiosity about opera, this is an ideal opportunity to satisfy it,” said David Vosburgh, artistic director.

Rhea Olivacce will make her Opera Western Reserve debut in the title role as Carmen. Returning for their 13th season, Susan Davenny Wyner will lead the 25-person professional orchestra and Vosburgh will serve as overall production director and set director. Scott Skiba will serve as stage director. Singers in the Young Artists program will sing supporting roles in the chorus.

Tickets, which range from $25 to $75, can be purchased in person or by calling the Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office at Stambaugh Auditorium, 330 259 0555. The box office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or through the Opera Western Reserve website.
