Penguin City, Youngstown Clothing Partner with Phantoms
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – For the remainder of the season, the Youngstown Phantoms will offer fans cans of Penguin City Beer with a limited edition design, available only at the Covelli Centre.
The United States Hockey League team is also partnering with Youngstown Clothing Co., which has designed a T-shirt for the team. It will go on sale at the company’s store in Southern Park Mall Saturday.
“We are thrilled to partner with Penguin City Brewing Company and The Youngstown Clothing Company who are two of the most exciting, successful, innovative and hard working entities in the Valley,” said Phantoms President Andrew Goldman in a statement.
“We hope and expect that this will be the first of many collaborations together and can’t wait to see what comes next,” he continued.
Since the team started playing in 2003, 15 Phantoms players have been drafted into the NHL.
“The Youngstown Phantoms is an amazing organization to have in our community. Many people don’t realize, the road to the NHL comes right through Youngstown,” said Youngstown Clothing Co.’s Tim Petrey.
Added Penguin City Brewing Co.’s Aspasia Lyras-Bernacki: “We love being able to continue to work with the Youngstown Phantoms and getting to partner with Youngstown Clothing Co. on this special can design. We are proud to celebrate our city’s sports teams, and the Youngstown Phantoms are very much a part of our community. This is a triple win.”
The brewery has offered several other limited edition offerings, including special container designs for Simply Slavic and the 25th anniversary of the YSU Penguins’ 1994 football national championship, as well as John Young Apple Ale for Zombie Crawl.
For the Zombie Crawl, the companies partnered to design the label – featuring the decayed hand of city founder John Young pushing its way out of the grave – that was also offered on a Youngstown Clothing shirt.
