Pittsburgh TV Host Headlines Forward Lawrence Event

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The joint organizations operating under the Forward Lawrence umbrella – Lawrence County Regional Chamber of Commerce and Lawrence County Economic Development Corp. – hosted the organizations’ 117th annual dinner Thursday evening.

More than 230 guests gathered at the Scottish Rite Cathedral for the event, which featured a keynote address by Bill Flanagan, host and producer of “Our Region’s Business” on WPXI-TV, PCNC, WPXI.com/ORB and YouTube.

“We were excited to reunite with the business community for an evening of networking and celebration of recent steps forward,” Kimberly Koller-Jones, chamber president, said in a news release after the event. “It was our first annual dinner since 2019 and a good opportunity to share our current scope of work and renewed commitment to Lawrence County.”

During his presentation on the regional economy, Flanagan shared information on thriving industries, potential growth areas and the importance of leveraging the region’s assets while tempering the outlook with recognized constraints, according to the news release.

He offered insight into steps Lawrence County needs to follow to move forward and responded to audience questions on topics that include the reduced corporate tax code and avoiding further population loss. Commissioner Loretta Spielvogel specifically inquired about next steps while recognizing the need to make it easier for prospective companies to do business in the area.
