Preview YSU’s Marching Pride Season Aug. 25
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Want to get a sneak peek at what Youngstown State University’s Marching Pride has in store for the upcoming season?
You can at “Meet the Marching Pride” at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in Stambaugh Stadium on campus.
The preview marks the beginning of the marching band season and is free and open to the public.
In its first public appearance of the year, the band previews the music it will perform during Penguin football games this fall. In addition, the band will be perfecting its drill design, so those in attendance can see how a marching band functions on the field.
Brandt Payne, director of athletic bands, said he is happy to welcome more than 170 band members as they head toward the start of the Penguin football season on Sept. 1.
The Marching Pride’s first halftime show of the season will feature the music of Warren native Dave Grohl, who played drums for Nirvana and was the founder of the Foo Fighters.
The show at homecoming will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Dana School of Music at YSU.
