Registration Opens for YSU IT Workforce Accelerator
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University is accepting applications for participation in the IT Workforce Accelerator program, for both those interested in the training program and employers that are interested in taking on apprentices.
The program is a partnership between YSU and IBM that will provide preapprenticeship training for workers seeking skills such as programming, cybersecurity and data science, as well as apprenticeship support for businesses. As a nationally registered apprenticeship sponsor with the U.S. Department of Labor, YSU can help companies with program design and administration and provide technical assistance.
“This initiative will provide students and our local workforce with the skills needed to compete for high-tech jobs in our growing digital economy,” said YSU President Jim Tressel in November at the launch of the IT Workforce Accelerator.
The preapprenticeship program offers IBM digital credentials in software engineering, cybersecurity, data science, z/OS and IT support. More certifications will be added based on employer demand. Registration for the program is available HERE.
Registration for interested employers can be found HERE.
