Rescue Mission Receives $10K from PNC Foundation
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley has received a $10,000 grant from the PNC Foundation to support with the agency’s mission of providing community services.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Rescue Mission’s budget has been strained, said chief financial officer Nora Byers in a statement. In March alone, unbudgeted expenses surpassed $3,400 for items such as takeout containers.
“At the Mission, we carefully watch our budget and treat each and every donation as a precious gift. When unexpected and unbudgeted expenses arise, such as those we have seen recently due to COVID-19, it’s amazing to see our needs met through the faithfulness of God and the generosity of so many donors,” she said.
The grant from the PNC Foundation will help Rescue Mission implement new safety precautions and be proactive in addressing the health and safety of those experiencing homelessness in the area.
“The coronavirus crisis has considerably increased the need for support in the Mahoning Valley, and PNC is committed to helping our friends and neighbors through this difficult time,” said Ted Schmidt, PNC regional president for Youngstown. “We are grateful for organizations such as the Rescue Mission that are stepping up to help people throughout our community.”
