Research, Tech Transfer Programs Topic of Seminar

WARREN, Ohio — The Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs are the topic of an information session at the Tech Belt Energy Innovation Center here Dec. 2. The event is hosted by the Valley Alliance for Science and Technology, a member organization of the center.

This two-hour lunch seminar will focus on the basics of the programs and is for small businesses that engage in research and development in any way. Larger companies can learn about opportunities to work with small businesses in partnership to access the programs, which can provide millions of dollars for research and development, organizers said.

The grants provide more than $2 billion per year for R&D projects for small businesses (fewer than 500 employees). More than 5,500 of these grants have been awarded to Ohio companies since 1984.

The center is focused on fostering the environment for technology innovation, application and growth in the Mahoning Valley. The seminar will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Center and is free to Alliance members ($20 for non-members). To register, call Rose Shaffer at 330 207 2635.
