Royal Oaks Episode of ‘Bar Rescue’ to Air Sunday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Two and a half months after film crews were in town to shoot two episodes of the Spike TV show “Bar Rescue,” the first episode*, that features the Royal Oaks on the East Side, will air at 10 p.m. Sunday (WATCH PREVIEW).

On Aug. 3, host Jon Taffer and his crew began examining the bar through undercover filming and “stress tests,” where they watch how the restaurant staff works with large crowds.

Changes to bars visited by Bar Rescue vary from instance to instance but the show “actually has the right to change the names of the bars, rip out the whole interior of the bars, put in a whole new look to the place and give you a whole new menu if they want to,” Fred D’Amico, director of the Youngstown Regional Film Commission, said during filming in August.

A release from Spike TV teased the episode as, “Feuding brothers are driving customers away with their obnoxious behavior.

“As the oldest bar and BBQ joint in town, Royal Oaks means a lot to the Youngstown community. Jon Taffer will have to figure out a way to get these quarreling brothers to play nice, before they go out of business for good,” the release said.

The show also filmed at The Federal, formerly known as Martini Brothers Burger Bar, the same week as filming at the Royal Oaks. No airtime has been announced.
