Salem Regional Adds Tech, Docs

SALEM – Salem Regional Medical Center invested in medical technology and clinical expertise in 2019 as it pursued its goal of improving community health.

The nonprofit health-care system added an imaging services center at Town Center at Firestone Farms in Columbiana, offering digital mammograms, bone density scans, ultrasounds and X-rays.

In 2019, Salem Regional was named a national showcase site by Siemens and installed the newest 3D positron emission tomography/computed tomography machine. The equipment identifies very small cancers and their spread through the body. The PET/CT machine provides the highest quality detail with half the radiation of traditional machines, says director of marketing Michael Santillo.

Four physicians were added to the staff last year. Dr. Jason Boyd joined as an orthopedic surgery and sports medicine fellow; Dr. Elaine Boyd joined the Columbiana Family Care Center; Dr. Anna Orlando joined Salem Regional’s primary care office in Lisbon; and Dr. Ranga Brahmamdam joined the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center.

SRMC, founded in 1913, employs more than 770.
