San Francisco 49ers Score at Holiday Inn Boardman

BOARDMAN, Ohio — Highlighting a great year at the Holiday Inn Boardman was a five-day stay by the San Francisco 49ers in September.

The Niners decided to stay in the hometown of their owners, the DeBartolo/York families, instead of returning to the West Coast before their game in Cincinnati. The team had similar stays in 2011 and 2012.

The 49ers used all the hotel’s meeting space, its restaurant and lounge and almost all the sleeping rooms, says Mike Moliterno, general manager.

“The DeBartolo and York families are treasures to our area and the Bay area,” he adds. “They are down-to-earth people who always serve the areas that they call home.”

Aiding the hotel in its planning was that many staff were here for the team’s previous stays, including Moliterno and food and beverage manager John Fabian.

“The biggest difference from last year were the advancements in their dietary needs, Fabian says.

The team traveled with a chef and dietitian and was much more concerned with the nutritional value of the foods, he notes.
