Schriner-Briggs to Open Press Club Speaker Series

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University graduate and Yale Press Clause Fellow Jacob Schriner-Briggs will kick off the Youngstown Press Club’s 2023 speaker series with “Democracy, the Constitution and Freedom of the Press” from noon to 1:30 p.m. March 7 at Concept Studio, 217 W. Federal St.

Jacob Schriner-Briggs, who graduated form YSU in 2017 and Yale Law School in 2021, will take an in-depth look at the press clause of the First Amendment, particularly the structural role a free press plays within democratic societies, both philosophically and through the eyes of the framers of the Constitution.

The cost for the event, which includes lunch, is $20 for YPC members and $25 for nonmembers. Reserve a spot HERE.

The event is the first in a series of speakers sponsored by the YPC, an organization that promotes journalism and other communications-related professions in the Mahoning Valley.
