Scrappers Open Season Tonight

NILES, Ohio — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers open the 2021 season as part of the new, six-team, MLB Draft League tonight at the West Virginia Black Bears. The first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

The Scrappers’ home opener is Wednesday against the State College Spikes, starting at 7:05 p.m. The opener is the start of a five-game homestand for Mahoning Valley.

The Scrappers’ roster, released late Sunday, has 11 pitchers, three catchers, five infielders and eight outfielders — featuring players from Australia, along with Arizona, Texas, Florida, Ohio and other states around the country.

Coco Crisp is the manager, while Vic Buttler is the hitting coach. Ron Mahay is the pitching coach, while Craig Antush is the assistant pitching coach.
