Silly Science Sunday Set for Sept. 18

September 14, 2016

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The sixth annual Silly Science Sunday will be held Sept. 18 at Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology.

The annual event brings Oh Wow’s exhibits outdoors to Federal Street, along with exhibitors and interactive displays. Among this year’s exhibitors are the Butler Institute of American Arts, Grow Youngstown, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Ward Beecher Planetarium.

The highlight of this year’s Silly Science Sunday, says executive director Suzanne Barbati, is the attempt to set the world record of the largest mixed crowd of humans and robots tossing beach balls. The toss begins at 1 p.m.

Oh Wow is also partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Mahoning Valley and Western PA for the McD’s Sock Run 5K Race/ Walk and Kids Fun Run. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the Kids Run starting at 11:30 a.m. and the 5K taking place at noon.

A full list of exhibits and sponsors can be found at OhWowKids.org.
