Silver’s Vogue Shop Is Permanently Closed
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Silver’s Vogue Shop is now permanently closed.
Two hand-written signs recently were taped to the windows near the entrance of the downtown men’s clothing store announcing that the shop is permanently closed, and the owner has retired.
Owner Barry Silver announced last year that he was going to close his store – which has been a landmark on the corner of West Federal and Phelps streets, downtown for 49 years – by March.
“The store has been good to me,” Silver told the Business Journal in December. “I made a very good living all my life.”
Silver owns the two-story building that houses his store, and has hired Daniel Durkin of Mayo Realtors to represent him in selling it.
The building is being sold for $599,000.
People who have shown interest in the building believe it’s an outstanding downtown location, Durkin said. Most people have looked at it from the standpoint of a restaurant, night club type of place, he says, and they are coming in from Pittsburgh, New York and Cleveland.
