Sunrise Inn Celebrates 90 Years with $1,929 Grand Prize
WARREN, Ohio — Since the days of Prohibition, the Sunrise Inn has been a mainstay downtown. As the restaurant celebrates 90 years in business this year, it’s giving area residents a chance to join in the fun with weekly cash prizes.
A contest held in conjunction with WFMJ Television Inc. will see 12 participants receive $100 in Sunrise gift certificates, with a winner selected each week. On April 1, a grand prize winner will receive a gift certificate for $1,929.
The prize amount recalls the year Sunrise Inn was established downtown. The restaurant was taken over by Tom and Angelo Haidaris a few years later, according to its website. The Haidarises expanded the restaurant to become the first pizza shop here and served soldiers returning home from Italy after World War II. Sunrise Inn features Old World, specialty and deep-dish pizza, as well as garlic chicken, chicken wings, Angus hamburgers, sandwiches and dinner entrees.
The contest is open to residents in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, as well as Mercer County, Pa., who are at least age 18. Participants can enter once daily from now until March 27 at 11:59 p.m. Visit WFMJ.com/334323/sunrise-inn-celebrates-90-years to enter.
