Sweeney Dealerships Win Quartet of Awards from GM

BOARDMAN, Ohio – General Motors has presented Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC with a group of awards, recognizing the dealerships for their work in customer service, sales and financing.

On Thursday, both Sweeney Chevrolet and Sweeney Buick GMC were presented with GM’s Mark of Excellence awards for customer service.

“It’s really about the whole team. Sales, service, parts and everyone else are committing to an excellent customer experience every single time. We preach it every single meeting. We review customer feedback whenever we can,” says President Alexa Sweeney Blackann. “It was a rough couple years when our service and sales were combined [after a storm damaged the Buick GMC dealership], but we experimented with how we could be better and add customer value.”

Among the additions were videos from service technicians looking over customers’ cars, the ability to accept or decline recommendations made during vehicle inspections and the option to make payments online.

In addition to the Mark of Excellence awards, the Chevy dealership was also presented with the Elite Leaders award for the work of its sales management team and the President’s Award, recognizing five years of work with GM Financial.

“When you look at a year where Lordstown was an issue or this year with COVID, we try to tune all that out and focus on what we can control, which is giving a great customer experience every time,” Sweeney says of the work done by the sales team.

With the Sweeney dealerships getting ready to celebrate their centennial next year, its president says the awards serve as early start and a reminder of what got them to this point.

“This is a great set off. We think the future is really bright and these awards are just more evidence of our commitment to the community and our commitment to the next hundred years,” she says.
