Tartan Begins 40th Year With Revenue Growth

BOARDMAN, Ohio — The Tartan Companies, which consist of Tartan Insurance Agency, Tartan Benefit Services and Tartan Risk Solutions, ended 2019 with modest revenue growth over 2018.
Each of our three areas of service is looking ahead to 2020, our 40th year in business, with a game plan targeted to specific issues. A combined goal for all three Boardman-based companies is the development of better tools for employers to attract and retain great employees.
Employee Benefits: Most plan designs today have various components that make developing a benefit program for employers a significant task. Equally complex is what their employees go through when they navigate open enrollment periods.
An employer’s program usually contains multiple plan options that can have differences in deductions, co-pays and co-insurance amounts. Many have a consumer-driven option that would include an FSA (flexible spending account), HSA (health savings account), HRA (health reimbursement account) or a combination. Many have wellness plans.
New legislative changes are constantly requiring plan updates. Add dental, vision, life, dependent life, voluntary or worksite products and you can understand why employees feel overwhelmed. Tartan Insurance Agency is developing simpler ways to present options to employers and therefore simplify open enrollments.
Workers’ Compensation and Unemployment: Tartan Benefit Services offers public and private employer group ratings, group retrospective ratings, state fund, self-insured and unemployment-administration options.
Through data review and analysis, we present the Ohio BWC’s Group Retrospective Rating Program as an option to many clients.
Participation eligibility in other BWC savings programs is analyzed. Various levels of unemployment administration services are offered in conjunction with workers’ comp administration services.
Compliance and Human Resources: On-site surveys, or what we call our “friendly audit,” continue to be a great tool for employers. Findings of the audit are shared only with the client and a game plan to correct specific issues can be put in motion at the direction of each employer. Working closely with Tartan Insurance on issues that clients often encounter with their benefits programs continues to be a valuable service.
