Teams from Across US to Participate in Tough Tower Competition
NORTH JACKSON, Ohio – Eight teams of two tower technicians each from across the United States will compete in the second annual Tough Tower competition June 8-9 at 8900 Mahoning Ave.
The competitors, who are professionals in the telecommunications industry, will compete in eight preliminary industry-related challenges from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 8, both on the ground and on multiple training towers.
On June 9, the semifinal and final rounds will take place to decide the winner. The semifinals will begin at 9 a.m.
Challenges will range from rescue and installation to crane maneuverability.
Event sponsors STG Communication Services and Tri-County Tower launched the event in 2023 to draw attention to career opportunities in the telecommunications industry.
“We had great success with this event last year,” Tri-County Tower CEO Chris Thomas said. “Tower technicians show incredible fortitude and skill as they perform essential work every day, and it’s great to recognize their talents in this exciting competition.”
Amanda Gonzalez, STG Communications events coordinator, encourages the public to attend the event.
“Spectators can witness competitors performing incredible feats on the ground and in the air. We’ll also have food trucks and children’s activities to enjoy,” Gonzalez said.
