The Walnut Grove Adds Three Board Members
CANFIELD, Ohio – The Walnut Grove, an inclusive playground, added Greg Ensley, Cara Hahn and Katie Layshock as board members at its most recent board meeting.
Ensley is the vice president and commercial banking team leader for The Farmers National Bank of Canfield, where he has worked for 17 years. Ensley currently serves on the board of the American Red Cross Lake to River Chapter and is the treasurer of the Springfield Township Baseball Association.
Hahn is a certified adaptive recreation and sports specialist at Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio, a local nonprofit organization that provides sports opportunities to people with physical disabilities.
Layshock, an Austintown resident, is a field office trainer at Drayer Physical Therapy and has been an active volunteer with The Walnut Grove before joining the board.
The Walnut Grove, which installed its first phase of the inclusive playground this past summer, is in the beginning stages of its second stage, for which equipment has been ordered, but fundraising efforts are still underway to help with the installation.
The group has been active in planning its third Annual Swing, Wine & Dine Fundraiser. In years past, the event has sold out with attendance growing from 350 to 475 in years one and two. The group is looking forward to a successful third year.
“We are looking forward to Swing, Wine & Dine this year. With much planning already underway and many tables already reserved, it is undoubtedly going to be our best event to date,” said Walnut Grove Board President Shellie Duchek.
This years Swing, Wine, and Dine will feature a full dinner buffet catered by Blue Wolf Events, a live and silent auction, basket raffles, alcoholic beverages and art pieces designed by patrons of The Walnut Grove playground.
The event will be held on Feb. 2 at The Maronite Center in Youngstown. Tickets are $50 per ticket, or $500 for a table of eight. Additionally, sponsorship levels are available for interested parties.
