Trumbull Mobile Meals Gets Land for Expansion
WARREN, Ohio – Trumbull Mobile Meals last year received a donation of land that it will use for future expansion.
Two parcels surrounding the existing building at 323 E. Market St. in Warren were donated by Lewis and Sandra Guarnieri. The agency plans to use the land to expand its kitchen and add a four-bay garage.
Because the need for mobile meals has grown, the expansion of the kitchen and delivery service has become necessary, according to Audrey Novotny, CEO of Trumbull Mobile Meals.
“We have most definitely outgrown our kitchen,” she says.
Novotny joined TMM last year, bringing with her a wealth of grant writing and nonprofit management skills.
The kitchen also gained new leadership in 2023 with the hiring of LaQuisha Beaver as food service manager and Bryan Sellers as head chef.
Trumbull Mobile Meals is a nonprofit agency that aims to end hunger for those who are limited in mobility, ill or frail, or homebound.
“There is a large segment of our community that is wheelchair-bound, use walkers and canes, are too ill to prepare a meal, or do not have the resources to drive to a congregate meal site or food distribution center,” Novotny says. “We are dedicated to providing home-delivered meals to them.”
The agency delivers 80,000 meals a year with the help of 300 volunteers. It serves 302 clients Monday through Friday and provides weekend meals for those who need them.
With a goal of helping people remain in their own homes, it also provides assistance during recovery from an accident or illness.
The agency is seeking volunteers, specifically delivery drivers. Interested persons can call 330 394 2538.
