Ultium Cells Raises $5K for Abdu Center

WARREN, Ohio — Ultium Cells have raised $5,022 for the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center in Youngstown in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout the month of October Ultium held several fundraisers, including a “Paint the Plant Pink” t-shirt fundraiser and a “Park for Pink” raffle.

The fund will go towards “Joanie’s Promise,” which makes diagnostic breast care services available to anyone in the community regardless of their ability to pay.

“Fighting breast cancer takes everyone,” said Kareem Maine, plant director of Ultium’s Lordstown plant. “The Ultium Cells team came together to join this fight by raising awareness, conducting exams on site and raising funds for the cause.”

“We are extremely grateful to Ultium Cells, the employees and management for this generous gift,” said Gina Marinelli, senior gift officer with the Mercy Health Foundation. “You are truly making a difference in our community and we are grateful for that.”
