United Way Runs School Pantry Campaign Through December

WARREN Ohio –The United Way of Trumbull County will continue fundraising for school pantries through the end of December to help replenish the increased usage over the holidays.

“School pantries complement the schools’ breakfast and lunch programs, providing access to food and basic essentials for children and their families, even after the school day has ended,” said Ginny Pasha, president of United Way of Trumbull County.  “With the holidays approaching, we are guaranteed that many students will access the pantries more than usual, which will leave the pantries looking scarce come January.”

For this reason, United Way has initiated an online School Pantry campaign.  Those who would like to make a contribution can simply log on to United Way of Trumbull County’s Facebook page or website and designate their donation to the School Pantry campaign.

Noninternet users may text the word, “Trumbull” to 41444 or mail checks payable to United Way of Trumbull County School Pantries at 3601 Youngstown Road, S.E. in Warren.

Monies collected will be divided and distributed to the schools during the month of January.

In addition to the online School Pantry campaign, United Way held two “Dine to Donate” events: one at Primanti Brothers and another at Quaker Steak & Lube.

Both restaurants will be donating a percentage of sales from United Way’s Giving Tuesday events in support of the School Pantry campaign. The percentage of sales will come from the sales of customers that visited the restaurants to dine in or carry out and specified their support of United Way’s School Pantry campaign.
